Reddit will end [RSS support](https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/1wubgvt/continuing%5Four%5Finfrastructure%5Fupdates%5Fwhats/?ref=metatalks.ai) on November 13, 2026, and shut its public API in March 2027.

RSS lets readers follow new posts in a feed reader without visiting the site. Reddit says the feeds have become a common route for large-scale data scraping and automated abuse, prompting the shutdown.

Reddit acknowledges that Devvit does not yet cover every existing tool’s capabilities. Developers may need approval for features such as calls from external servers or broader access to outside websites.

New applications for public API access close on October 31\. From January 12, 2027, Reddit will begin cutting off apps and users that have neither registered nor responded to its outreach.

Reddit earns revenue from licensing its forum content for AI. In the second quarter, [revenue outside advertising](https://investor.redditinc.com/news-events/news-releases/news-details/2026/Reddit-Reports-Second-Quarter-2026-Results/default.aspx?ref=metatalks.ai) reached $43 million, up 24% from a year earlier. Those figures cover all non-advertising revenue, rather than AI licensing alone.
