A tenfold climb from the single production the company confirmed in July 2025.

Netflix says roughly 300 titles on its service have involved generative AI, with most of that work happening in post-production.

The company put the figure in its second-quarter 2026 shareholder letter, which said Netflix is leaning on the tools more and more because they let it turn out better work in less time and for less money.

In July 2025, Netflix conceded for the first time that it had used generative AI on a single production, the Argentine science-fiction series The Eternaut.

Netflix named three productions that used the technology to build unusually intricate scenes, each from a different country: Glory, made in India; Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri, from Brazil; and The American Experiment, produced in the United States.

On the quarterly results call, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said The American Experiment contains 17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage, finished in half the time and for half of what earlier techniques would have cost. Without the tools, he said, many productions would simply have dropped such key shots, unable to afford them or to fit them into their schedules. Sarandos described the company's approach as a careful one, aimed at work that budgets would otherwise rule out.

Behind that count sits an in-house build-out. At its centre is InterPositive, a $600 million acquisition Netflix closed in March 2026. Founded in 2022 by Ben Affleck, the startup makes tools that work directly on a production's existing footage rather than generating video from text prompts, covering tasks such as relighting shots, altering visual effects and handling editing that would otherwise be done by hand. Netflix also operates an internal AI animation studio and Eyeline, its in-house visual-effects research group.

One question went untouched on the call: whether generative AI will eventually take over the work of animators and visual-effects professionals, an issue raised repeatedly since the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Netflix quantified the speed and the savings; the labour side of the ledger it left blank.
