**It answers out of a grower’s own records — when to harvest, how to set the machine, where the fuel went — and John Deere means to put it on the screens in the cabs of the machines it sells.**

John Deere is trialling an AI assistant called [JD](https://www.deere.com/en-us/privacy-data/data-services/your-data?ref=metatalks.ai#meet-jd), which draws on a farm’s field, machine and operational data and on the trends in what a grower has accumulated over seasons. The company says it should help farmers earn more.

The trial is open to a limited group of US customers inside the John Deere Operations Center, through an Early Access Program. Browsers and phones come first in the wider rollout, and John Deere also intends to extend the assistant to turf, construction, roadbuilding and forestry customers. None of that has been released.

It arrives with a ten-point [Farmer Data Commitment](https://www.deere.com/en-us/privacy-data/data-services/your-data?ref=metatalks.ai): growers control their own farm data, John Deere will not sell it and will not use it for commodity trading or speculation, and growers choose which outside parties get a look at it and can shut that flow off whenever they wish.

The press release did not say which AI technology runs the assistant.
